Lloydminster, AB/SK – Thousands of Lloydminster and area residents flocked to Bud Miller All Seasons park on July 1, 2017 to participate in the Canada Day festivities presented by MNP LLP.

Organizers estimate approximately 15,000 visited the event throughout the day’s activities and evening’s fireworks.

During the opening ceremonies, Mayor Gerald Aalbers was joined by a number of local dignitaries, including MP Gerry Ritz, MP Shannon Stubbs, MLA Richard Starke and MLA Colleen Young.

More than a dozen food vendors were on site, providing a variety of delicious treats – from mini donuts and poutine to pizza and ice cream.

“Canada’s 150 anniversary was well celebrated and attended in Lloydminster,” said April McCloud, Recreational Programmer. “It truly was a monumental year. We were excited to offer new and exciting activities as a result of the generous support from our sponsors, volunteers and organizers. We would like to thank all who came together to create such a memorable experience for the community.”

Visitors were treated to an array of entertainers, including:
  • The Prairie Dogs
  • Jordyn Pollard
  • Ernestine Hatpin Shows
  • Tarp Kickers
  • Sam Lundell
This year’s celebration featured more than 20 family-friendly activities and attractions, including:
  • Multicultural Showcase
  • Bounce houses
  • Inflatable sports games
  • Pony races
  • Ball pits
  • Crafts
  • Wagon rides
  • Petting zoo
  • Toddler town
  • Hot Doggers Shows
  • Bioclean Adventure Zone
  • Inflatable Maze
  • Farmers Market
Unique attractions included an iFlip Aerial Acrobatic Show, Rec-Tech Flydive Water Demos and two CF-188 Hornets.

Impending wind and rain necessitated that the fireworks show start at 10:45 p.m., rather than 11 p.m., as previously announced. The City thanks park visitors for their cooperation and understanding.
