Residents Asked to Support City Strategy During ‘Coffee and Conversation with Council’

Lloydminster, AB/SK – Mayor and Council are inviting all Lloydminster residents to join a casual conversation about their community’s long and short-term priorities.

 “As Council advances through its priority-defining process, we need to communicate directly with Lloydminster residents to ensure our focus aligns with the needs of those we serve,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “This Council is committed to providing a solid foundation for future growth and prosperity. We want to ensure our residents have ample opportunity to provide input on the items that will steer our decisions and actions for years to come.”

Residents are encouraged to join Council during the following sessions:

 

September 20, 2017
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Second Cup (1404 50 Avenue)

September 26, 2017
1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Legacy Centre (5106 46 Street)

 

Background

In June 2017, Lloydminster City Council and Administration began developing a set of goals and strategies to support Council in updating its 2018-2021 Strategic Plan. Through a series of workshops, the following eight key priorities emerged:

  • Engage with staff and residents
  • Create and maintain a full suite of governance policies
  • Create strong fiscal policy related to reserves
  • Create, update and budget for a priority-ranked list of capital projects
  • Create, modify or rescind human resource policies as required
  • Provide guidance for economic development within the City
  • Determine a funding model for upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant
  • Determine the most appropriate  model for management and sale of City-owned land
