Responsibilities
- Nominates appointees to boards and committees of the city, subject to the approval of City Council
City Council
The responsibilities of the City Council include:
- Adopting city bylaws and changes them as needed
- Approving contracts, purchases and agreements
- Determining city policies and sets standards
- Determining how much shall be spent and for what purposes
- Determining what city taxes shall be levied
- Exercising all discretionary powers of the city, both legislative and executive, and has complete control over the city administration; exercising this control exclusively through the City Commissioner
