Business Licensing

The City of Lloydminster requires all business that actively seek Business activities in or locate a Business within the City to have a valid Business Licence, as established in the Business Licence Bylaw 26-2023.

The City defines business as:

• a commercial, merchandising or industrial activity or undertaking;
• a profession, trade, occupation, craft or employment; or
• an activity providing goods and services whether or not for profit and
  however organized or formed, including a cooperative and association
  of persons.

Renewing A Business Licence

• Beginning December  – Licence Renewal Invoices are mailed
• January 1 – Licence Renewal Invoice due
• February 1 - Financial penalty applied for unpaid licences.

AB/SK Lottery and Raffle Licensing

Alberta Lottery Licensing Information

The Government of Alberta defines a raffle as a lottery scheme where ticket purchasers pay for a chance to win a prize. Anytime you pay a price for a chance to win a prize, a raffle licence is needed.

Saskatchewan Lottery and Raffle Licensing Information

The Government of Saskatchewan defines a raffle as charitable gaming in which entrants purchase a random chance to win a prize. There are many types of raffles, including standard draws, calendar draws, 50-50 draws, chase the ace, honey pot, sports drafts and pools, derbies and more.

Alberta Marriage Licensing Information

An Alberta marriage licence must be obtained before a marriage can be performed in Alberta. A marriage licence shows a marriage officiant that all the laws in Alberta have been met and the couple may get married.

Saskatchewan Marriage Licensing Information

A Saskatchewan marriage licence is only valid for a period of three months, or 90 days. The marriage licence becomes effective the day after it is purchased; therefore, the marriage licence can be purchased anywhere from one day to 90 days prior to the wedding ceremony.

Pet Licensing

The Lloydminster Border Paws Animal Shelter (formerly the Lloydminster SPCA) encourages pet guardians to spay or neuter their pets. Please keep in mind first time applicants will be required to provide a Veterinarian Certificate to confirm the pet has been spayed or neutered.
