Organizational Commitment to Safety Management

Principal

The City of Lloydminster is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and promoting positive health and safety attitudes.  For the Safety Management System to be successful, commitment and cooperation of each individual employee is required.  As an organization we will exercise awareness, self-discipline and accept responsibility to continually strive for a safe and healthy community.

Purpose

The Purpose of the Safety Management System is to provide safe and healthy working conditions for all employees and the public.

Goal

The Goal of the Safety Management System is to prevent occupational illness and eliminate injuries for all employees and the public.

Directive

Management will give health and safety highest consideration among other factors that affect operational decisions.  In doing so, Management shall project an attitude that all occupational illness and injury can be prevented and insist upon total commitment to the Safety Management System from all workers as there will be no compromise with safety.

Reporting of any real or perceived safety issues is essential to the success of our Safety Management System and is encouraged.  Therefore, anyone who reports a safety incident or makes suggestions that seek to improve safety will not be subject to disciplinary action.

Employees will comply with all rules and regulations and continually give health and safety highest consideration while performing their duties as a condition of employment.

The City expects commitment from all contractors, sub-contractors, visitors, volunteers and all other parties on City of Lloydminster owned or controlled property to abide by and follow the Safety Management System.

The City of Lloydminster will comply with applicable Federal and Provincial legislation.
