Lloydminster, AB/SK – Honouring the servicemen and women who gave their lives in defence of our rights and freedoms, Mayor Gerald Aalbers, on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39, has proclaimed November 5 to November 11, 2019, as Veterans' Week and October 26, 2019, as Poppy Day.
“It’s important we remember and honour those who sacrificed their lives for our rights and freedoms during the First World War and subsequent military actions,” said Mayor Aalbers. “As King George V is believed to have requested on the first anniversary following the end of the war, may ‘the thoughts of everyone be concentrated on reverent remembrance of the glorious dead.’”
