Lloydminster, AB/SK – One new member was appointed and six members will return to the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Advisory Committee following City Council’s approval on Monday, December 16, 2019.
Council approved the following appointments for a one-year term of December 16, 2019 to December 16, 2020:
- Amy Levesque
- Dr. Kent Weir
- Dabir Naqvi
- Dawn McKenzie-Weinhandl
- Emmy Kuypers
- Muriel Ralston
- Shaunda Smith
- Councillor Aaron Buckingham
“We’re grateful for the experience our returning members contribute, the fresh perspectives new members bring, and most of all the time they all volunteer to ensure these funds are invested to best benefit the community,” said Patrick Lancaster, Manager of Social Programs and Services, acknowledging the hours spent reviewing applications and discussing at length during meetings.
In 2019, the FCSS Advisory Committee allocated more than $500,000 in grants for non-profit community organization programs and services such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lloydminster, Lloydminster’s branch of Special Olympics Alberta and Inclusion Lloydminster.
The Committee also supports FCSS initiatives by volunteering at different events and workshops throughout the year.
