Lloydminster, AB/SK – Parks and Green Spaces crews have seen a significant increase in the number of used disposable and reusable masks and gloves on streets and parks.
As masks and face coverings become more commonplace, residents and visitors are reminded that masks and gloves' improper disposal contributes to environmental pollution. Discarding used masks on the ground can become a contamination hazard to others, including those in charge of garbage collection.
The City of Lloydminster reminds residents to dispose of used gloves and face masks in public garbage bins and not on the ground.
Furthermore, the City wishes to remind everyone under Bylaw 10-2018 that it is forbidden to throw any waste in public spaces and is subject to a minimum $300 fine.
