Lloydminster, AB/SK – In response to continuing hot, dry weather, the City of Lloydminster has issued a fire restriction within the city’s parks and green spaces, effective Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
The restriction is in effect for all City parks and green spaces, including Bud Miller All Seasons Park and Weaver Park Campground. Park visitors are also reminded to properly extinguish smoking materials in ashtrays or designated cigarette butt receptacles.
Residents should be aware that even if the weather includes moisture, the fire restriction may remain in effect, as there may still be a significant fire risk.
Anyone travelling outside of Lloydminster is encouraged to check the status of fire bans and advisories throughout Alberta at Albertafirebans.ca. Saskatchewan fire ban information is posted at Environment.gov.sk.ca/.
At this time, the City has not issued a community-wide fire ban.
For more information, please contact the Lloydminster Fire Services office at 306-825-6515.
Residents are advised to call 911 to report a fire.
