Lloydminster, AB – On March 9, 2023, members of the North Battleford RCMP notified Lloydminster RCMP that they had observed a vehicle with a confirmed stolen plate driving at a high rate of speed toward the Lloydminster area.
A short time later, Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) located the vehicle coming into Lloydminster. Using multiple resources, Lloydminster GIS, Lloydminster RCMP general duty members, and Lloydminster RCMP Police Dog Services conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested the three occupants.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen out of Edmonton. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following items:
- A sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun
- Shotgun ammunition
- 2.66 oz of suspected methamphetamine
- A small amount of suspected fentanyl
As a result, Janeen Lilian Bereti-Moody, 34, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with seven criminal code offences:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized of firearm in motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
Ruben Almenares Strongquill, 38, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with 13 criminal code offences, some of which include:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized of firearm in motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Weapons possession contrary to surrender authorization
Brett Edwin Worm, 30, a resident of Saskatoon, has been charged with 16 criminal code offences, some of which include:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized of firearm in motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Fail to comply with release order conditions
All three suspects were taken before a Justice of the Peace. All have been remanded in custody with the next court date of March 16, 2023, at Lloydminster Provincial Court.
