Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre

Welcome to the Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre (LCSC), formerly known as the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre.

Gift Shop
We are a public art gallery, wildlife taxidermy display, and interactive heavy oil science centre. The galleries and exhibits reflect the breadth of human experience through art, culture, and science displays.

Our gift shop offers fine gifts and mementos, and is located on site at the LCSC.

New Happenings at the LCSC:
  • We are proud to reveal our new visual identity, which connects visitors to the spirit of Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre. The foundation of Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre includes diversity, creativity, enjoyment, exploration and opportunity for personal growth. The new Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre logo embodies our core meaning and purpose. Contained within the logo are a myriad of icons, including:

    - A tipi to acknowledge the First Nations people and our heritage

    - A border marker that divides the diamond and represents the unique nature of Lloydminster’s geography

    - A picture gallery to represent creativity within our community

    - A wagon wheel to symbolize the aspirations of the original pioneers and celebrate the accomplishments of all those who have created Lloydminster’s unique and diverse culture

    - Pottery to symbolize the growth of our local artisans

    - St. John’s Minster Church to represent Lloydminster’s rich history

    - Wheat to represent our agricultural roots and the abundance it continues to provide to our community

    - An oil derrick to represent the heavy oil industry and our entrepreneurial spirit

    - Molecular diagram hexagons to represent Lloydminster’s growth in oil development and science advancements

Together, the icons embody Lloydminster’s story, one that is vibrant and continuously evolving. We look forward to our next chapter of growth and creative development.

The Richard Larsen Museum Collection and LCSC Redevelopment
The Richard Larsen Museum Collection contains a large number of objects related to local history. Unfortunately, the area of the centre that houses the collection was built on a low-lying piece of ground with a high water table and poor drainage. As a result, the collection has been at risk. However, the whole of the collection is presently being moved into a new storage facility, and staff are currently examining options for exhibiting more of these pieces in the future. Click here to read more about the redevelopment plan.

The Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre is grateful for the support of SaskCulture and Saskatchewan Lotteries.
