Curbside collection changes due to COVID-19
To ensure the safety of contractors and employees, additional precautionary measures are effective immediately:

Cart use and care
Ensuring your garbage is collected |
Placement of carts is important! The automated arm on the truck can only operate if it has enough clearance to maneuver.
Follow these easy steps to ensure easy collection.
- Have your cart out by 7 a.m. on your collection day
- Place your carts so that the wheels are to the curb (facing forward)
- Do not park in front of cart until the garbage is collected
- Keep your carts one metre (an arm's length) apart so the truck's robotic arm can grab it
- Ensure that the lid is fully closed. Overflowing carts will not be emptied
- Do not overload carts. Heavy carts cannot be picked up by the truck's mechanical arm.
- Extra bags outside the cart will not be picked up. Loose material will not be collected.
- Residents can take excess garbage bags to the Lloydminster Sanitary Landfill free of charge.

Taking care of your cart |
- Store your cart away from direct sunlight.
- Rinse your organics carts weekly. You can use diluted bleach or a water-vinegar solution to minimize the odour. A small amount of laundry detergent, powdered lime or baking soda layered at the bottom of your cart can also help control odour.
- Bag items inside the kitchen catcher with a biodegradable bag or brown paper bags.
- You may choose to use larger paper biodegradable sacks to line your organics cart, but it is not required.
- To request cart repair or report a missing cart, complete the Report a Concern form or call Waste Services at 780-874-3700, Ext 2794.
