The Roadway Services Team ensures Lloydminster's arterials, streets and pedestrian routes remain safe and passable for drivers and pedestrians.
Street Improvement Program
Lloydminster streets are evaluated annually for needed repairs and upgrades. Annual maintenance and upgrading is an important part of improving the safety and extending the life of the City's roadways. There are numerous project locations, these projects includes new sidewalks and repairs to existing sidewalks, curb and gutter repairs, new walking paths and upgrades to existing walking paths, intersection rehabilitations, roadway patching, and the addition of turning lanes. Seasonal work for the 2022 Street Improvement Program is expected to conclude at the end of September. Safety is top priority, please obey all signage, speed limits and barricades.

Street Sweeping

Seasonal street sweeping is underway within the city as crews begin cleaning the downtown and main arterial routes before transitioning to residential areas on Monday, May 2, 2022.
Seasonal street sweeping removes sanding materials, litter and other debris to reduce dust and make streets safer for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists; street sweeping also prevents grit and debris from entering our stormwater system. Lloydminster's street sweeping priority routes are defined in our Street Sweeping Policy.
- No Parking signs are placed on the streets a minimum of 36 hours before work begins. Vehicles left parked on signed streets may be ticketed and/or towed.
- All curb ramps, basketball hoops, curbside collection bins and other objects must be removed from streets prior to sweeping operations.
- Residents are encouraged to sweep debris from the sidewalks on to the road prior to sweeping operations.

Potholes
In climates such as the City of Lloydminster, dramatic drops in temperature cause the ground beneath roads to heave and the asphalt to crack. When temperatures rise, and snow melts, the water fills the cracks in a road’s surface; when temperatures drop again the water expands as it freezes, further breaking down the asphalt. Potholes are formed as vehicles ride over top of the damaged areas and further loosen material.
Pothole Maintenance
Potholes are fixed in a priority order where roads with higher speed limits and traffic volume are repaired first, then collector and residential streets. Pothole repair is an essential part of keeping traffic moving safely and efficiently through the City. Transportation aims to fix every pothole, unfortunately it is not always possible due to weather, equipment and staff availability. All potholes are maintained on a list to be addressed.
To report a pothole concern, please complete the Pothole Concern form.
Street Lights
Please notify SaskPower at 310-2220 (Saskatchewan side) or Atco Electric at 1-800-668-2248 (Alberta side) of any burnt out or malfunctioning street lights. Please ensure to communicate the Pole Number to SaskPower or Atco Electric to expedite repairs.
