Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Government of Saskatchewan announced additional COVID-19 safe measures, which take effect on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
The new measures will remain in place until December 17, 2020, when the provincial government will re-evaluate the mitigation measures. The updated guidelines are in addition to those that went into effect November 16, 2020.
Mandatory Masking in Public Places
Masks will be mandatory in indoor places across Saskatchewan, whereas previously only required in communities over 5,000 people. It is recommended to defer to wearing a mask if uncertain if the location qualifies as an indoor space.
Protecting Residents of Long-Term and Personal Care Homes
Visitation to all long-term care facilities and personal care homes will be suspended, except for compassionate reasons under the family visitation policy available at Saskatchewan.ca.
Private Indoor Gathering Sizes Reduced
The maximum allowable gathering size for private gatherings in the home setting will decrease to five, down from 10, including in the home or garages, sheds, etc. If your immediate family is five or greater, you cannot have additional visitors.
Outdoor private gatherings remain at 30 people maximum and only if physical distancing of two metres can always be maintained.
Other Changes
The Government of Saskatchewan and the Ministry of Health will be consulting with athletic organizations and faith leaders in the coming days to determine how to enhance the provincial guidelines to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.
Entertainment transportation (examples: party buses, group limousines, recreational vehicles) are not permitted.
Where possible, it is recommended working from home.
Residents must continue to follow necessary personal protective measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, among other hygiene practices. More information is available at Lloydminster.ca/COVID-19.
