Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Saskatchewan Health Authority has provided direction to municipalities to allow arena spectator limits to increase for minor hockey in Lloydminster.
The updated guidelines will see the City’s arenas provide a unique occupancy number based on the square footage and the ability to maintain two metres (six feet) of separation between spectators.
“City Council and City Administration appreciate the change in service levels for hockey players and enthusiasts alike. The recent changes are a step in the right direction; however, we continue discussions with the Saskatchewan government and the health authorities to determine how we may allow similar guidelines for other sporting activities,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “Although the number of COVID-19 positive cases is slightly increasing in the province, we are confident the mitigation measures in place at City facilities will allow facilities to remain open to athletes, family and friends.”
Spectators are reminded to remain two metres (six feet) apart from those who are not within immediate family. For more information about the Government of Saskatchewan’s reopening plan, visit Saskatchewan.ca/covid19.
