Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster is reminding motorists that traffic flow along Highway 16 (44 Street) has returned to normal. All traffic control measures related to the rehabilitation project have been removed.
What this means
- All traffic control signals along Highway 16 are active.
- The temporary traffic signals at Highway 16 and 59 Avenue are no longer active. North- and southbound traffic must come to a complete stop before safely proceeding through the intersection.
- 43 Street and 59 Avenue is no longer a four-way stop. East- and westbound traffic must come to a complete stop, proceeding when it is safe.
- College Drive (62 Avenue) and 43 Street is no longer a four-way stop. Those travelling east or west must come to a complete stop before safely proceeding through the intersection. The signals that are still standing will be removed over the next few days.
In conjunction with Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd., the City of Lloydminster has substantially completed the construction work associated with the rehabilitation of Highway 16 between 59 Avenue and 75 Avenue. As such, the four-lane highway reopened throughout the evening of Monday, November 1, 2021.
Crews continue to complete the remaining pavement markings and other post-construction clean up operations along Highway 16 through the week. Motorists are reminded to follow all posted signage and navigate the construction zone safely and respectfully.
