Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Lloydminster Museum + Archives is celebrating Archives Week in Saskatchewan starting February 7, 2022. During the weeklong celebration, the Archives is excited to provide daily initiatives at its new location.
“Archives Week is an annual celebration of archives institutions throughout Saskatchewan. This week is to celebrate the hard work of archives’ staff and brings awareness to the need to preserve the documented history of our region, says Corine Price, Archivist, Lloydminster Museum + Archives.
Kicking off Archives Week is the unveiling of the Archives Research Room. On Wednesday, February 9, the public is invited to tour the Archives Research Room where attendees will discover what an archives looks like and learn about the kind of work that is done and types of items that are collected.
The Archives will also be hosting preservation and digitization workshops on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. These workshops will teach participants how to preserve images and documents safely and digitize family history.
Visit the Lloydminster Museum + Archives during Archives Week and be entered to win a gift basket from the gift shop.
“We’re excited to showcase the Permanent Collection and to share how we collect and preserve the Lloydminster region’s heritage,” says Price.
