Traffic accommodation plans are a living document throughout construction as phasing, work location, and in-field traffic patterns and conditions change. The traffic accommodation plan aims to provide the contractor with the necessary space to complete the work while protecting the public who need to access locations adjacent to the construction zone.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to adhere to all posted signage and travel through the area cautiously as routes will be monitored for continuous flow of traffic and adjustments may be made throughout the construction zone without notice. The safety of our contractors, City of Lloydminster employees, as well as the public is paramount.
Detour Routes and Road Restrictions
The Street Improvement Program is a dynamic program whereby construction activities may be progressing in several locations within the City of Lloydminster simultaneously. Construction locations undergo several different construction phases and may require varying levels of road restrictions or closures to accommodate the construction. For example, road removals, paving and overlaying of asphalt, concrete curb and gutter construction etc.
During construction, and given the dynamic nature of the program, motorists are asked to follow all posted signage to ensure the safety of all road users and construction personnel, as the signage will accommodate the construction activities for the day.
Access to properties will be maintained as much as possible throughout construction. Depending on the scope of the work on certain roadways, access may be intermittently limited. Notice regarding access will be given before construction to those directly affected.
Not all roadways adjacent to the construction zone will be posted for detour routes. Instead, only major roadways leading to the construction zone will be posted to limit signage congestion and potentially conflicting route signage.
