Lloydminster's current Mayor and Council were officially sworn in on November 16, 2020, following the Lloydminster municipal election on November 9, 2020. 

Mayor Gerald Aalbers

Mayor Gerald Aalbers

Having experienced life in numerous communities throughout Western Canada, Mayor Aalbers and his family have called Lloydminster home since 2005. Throughout his career, Mayor Aalbers gained valuable experience in customer service and problem solving. Strong people skills and a dedicated work ethic are building blocks of his 30-plus years in the workforce. Communication and clarity are two of Mayor Aalbers' strengths in serving the community.

Mayor Aalbers is serving his second term following re-election by acclamation in November 2020.

Councillor Aaron Buckingham

Councillor Aaron Buckingham

Councillor Buckingham has been a resident of Lloydminster for approximately 24 years. He has served in numerous roles, including the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce president, Border City Rotary Club president and chairman of the Community Hope Statue project. Councillor Buckingham has been a volunteer firefighter with the Britannia Fire Department for 23 years and holds the deputy chief's title. Honoured to serve the community in this role, Buckingham thanks the community members for their trust in him.

Councillor Michael DiachukCouncillor Dr. Michael Diachuk

Councillor Diachuk and his family moved to Lloydminster in 1998. He is a proud husband, father, brother and uncle. Councillor Diachuk has been involved in the education sector since 1977, when he first began teaching. He retired from public education in 2014 when he left the Lloydminster Public School Division as the Director of Education. He then began working at Lakeland College in 2015 as an instructor in the School of Business. Shortly after, he took on the role of faculty development co-ordinator and chair of Teaching and Learning. Michael retired from Lakeland College in June 2022. Michael plays an active role in senior housing, regional development, economic development, and the City Art Committee and has represented the City on the Heart of Treaty 6 from its initial start up. He has also been involved in the start up of the Lloydminster and Region Drug Strategy and the Regional HUB. Michael also manages a private educational consulting company providing support to First Nations and public education boards of education.

Councillor Aaron BuckinghamCouncillor Glenn Fagnan

Councillor Fagnan moved to Lloydminster with his wife Karen and daughter Brandy in 1989 to start Relay Distributing and is proud to call Lloydminster home. Since then, he has started and owned three additional businesses. He has been involved with many business-related boards, is a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and has been a Rotarian for more than 30 years. Glenn has had numerous leadership roles and has been active in numerous non-profits and community groups. Glenn's day job is the executive director for the Border City Connects Society. 

Councillor Fagnan is serving his second term following re-election in November 2020.

Councillor Lorelee MarinCouncillor Lorelee Marin

Councillor Marin and her family have been in the Lloydminster area since 1994. Lorelee’s early career in the financial industry helped her gain valuable knowledge of financial and risk management. For two decades, Lorelee has been working and volunteering in cancer care, advocating for healthy public policies, and supporting the development of care pathways and initiatives that improve treatment and care for people living with cancer. Lorelee is dedicated to her work as a health promotion facilitator in mental health promotion and addiction prevention. She is passionate about creating community and grateful for the privilege of serving on Council.

Councillor Johnathan TorresanCouncillor Jonathan Torresan

Councillor Torresan was born and raised in Lloydminster, where he resides with his family. He has earned his Chartered Accountant professional designation and is currently working as a corporate controller for a local engineering firm. As a Chartered Accountant, Jonathan uses his skill-set to apply a business-like approach to decision making that weighs both the costs and the benefits of decisions.

Councillor Torresan is serving his second term following re-election in November 2020.

Councillor Jason WhitingCouncillor Jason Whiting

Councillor Whiting is a Lloydminster native who worked locally in the oil and gas industry before obtaining his journeyperson millwright certificate. Later working in sales, Jason has spent time working in Edmonton and overseas. He later returned home to Lloydminster, where he's enjoyed being a Rotarian and finding other ways to be involved in the community.

Councillor Whiting sat on Council during the 2012-2016 term.
