Family and Community Support Services Grant Funding

The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Grant Funding is a source of financial assistance for non-profit community organizations provided by the Province of Alberta. The funds are to be used to enhance and enrich preventative programs and services within the City of Lloydminster.

- Review the FCSS Grant Funding Guidelines to learn more about the program, eligibility and submission requirements.
- Review the FCSSAA "What is Prevention" which outlines prevention and community development as it relates to the FCSS Program, including the different levels of prevention.
- Review the Program Advice Inventory Listing (PAIL) which provides detailed information about the eligibility or non-eligibility of programs. Use this tool to determine if your program qualifies for funding.
- Consult the FCSS Measures Bank as all applications must be in alignment with a strategic direction, outcome, indicator, and measure question from the FCSS Measures Bank. Programs that target the general community, adults, or families would use the FCSS Measures Bank. Provincial Priority Measures are preferred.
- Programs that target children and youth must use the FCSS Children and Youth Measures Bank as all applications must be in alignment with a strategic direction, outcome, indicator, and measure question from the FCSS Measures Bank. Provincial Priority Measures are preferred.
Grant submissions will open Thursday, August 1. Please fill out the FCSS Grant Application. Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program
|
The Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program is guided by the following:
- It provides access to sport, culture and recreation activities for all Saskatchewan people regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, economic status, physical or mental ability
- It provides funds to community non-profit volunteer organizations in support of sport, culture and recreation programs
- It allows communities to establish local priorities; and It stipulates that all participating groups, from administration to beneficiary, are responsible for ensuring complete and accurate accounting
The goal of the program is to get people involved in sport, culture and recreation activities by enabling communities to address the needs of local residents. This program is a partnership among Sask Sport Inc., SaskCulture Inc. and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association Inc. and is administered by the City of Lloydminster.

Safe and Healthy Communities Grant
|
The City of Lloydminster receives funds from tobacco and cannabis retailers through business licenses fees which are then distributed to local non-profit organizations or schools through this grant. This grant, formerly known as the Tobacco Reduction Grant has now widened its scope to include all addictive substance. Now referred to as The Safe and Healthy Communities Grant (SHG) it is a community grant program with the goal of enhancing the health, wellness, and safety of residents. Projects must align with at least one (1) of the following objectives: i. Provide knowledge/understanding on the harms and risks associated with Addictive Substances; ii. Support the cessation of the use of Addictive Substances; iii. Promote the adoption of healthy, substance free lifestyles; or iv. Provide education to recognize risk, make informed choices and consider the consequences of decisions and behaviors. Applicants who would like assistance with their application are advised to schedule an appointment 2 weeks prior to deadline.

Neighbourhood Grant Program
|
The Neighbourhood Grant Program helps residents work together to activate community resources in their neighbourhood for the benefit of everyone. Download your application or reach out to fcss@lloydminster.ca for more information.
The Neighbourhood Grant Program is a (up to) $500 grant to help residents activate community resources in their neighbourhood for the benefit of everyone.
Possible projects might include but are not limited to:
- Connect and engage neighbours. Example: block parties, walking groups, neighbourhood libraries, or volunteering
- Share neighbours’ skills and knowledge within the community: Example: a free yoga lesson for the community or community kitchen where participants exchange their cooking skills and share a meal together.
- Enhance community aesthetics/beauty/art.: Example: fence line mural or a community clean-up event.
- Respect and celebrate diversity: Example: multicultural potluck, a story telling project that involves seniors and youth, sharing of indigenous knowledge.
- Community safety: Example Neighbourhood Watch, or presentations related to neighbourhood crime prevention.
Some restrictions apply:
- Must be fair, equitable, transparent, and accountable.
- Must have a neighbourhood focus (street, block, neighbourhood, not community wide).
- Community contribution (donations/volunteers) must be done with the community rather than for the community.
- City reserves the right to approve/disapprove budget items.
- No projects that involve permanent alteration or addition of permanent structures to City property.
- No projects that are in violation of City Bylaws.
The following expenditures are INELIGIBLE for the grant:
- tobacco, tobacco substitutes, or vaporizers to utilized for purposes other than display/demonstration/ceremony;
- donations or projects that are primarily focused on fundraising;
- construction, renovation, retrofit and repairs to buildings;
- donation to an individual or organization;
- direct religious activities;
- any activities that advocate specific positions regarding municipal, provincial or federal government legislation, acts or policies; or
- activities exclusive to a specific family, business, religious, or political group.
OBLIGATIONS OF GRANT RECIPIENTS
Applicants will be required to submit a report and proof of purchase within 30 days of the project’s completion.
