Lloydminster, AB/SK – Starting Monday, May 30, 2022, the westbound lane of 36 Street will be closed at the intersection of 49 Avenue and 36 Street to help facilitate the 2022 Street Improvement Program on 49 Avenue from 36 Street to 38 Street. The lane restriction is expected to last for one week, weather permitting.
The eastbound lane will remain open; however, motorists will be unable to turn north (left). Motorists northbound on 49 Avenue will still be able to turn right to go east on 36 Street but will not be able to turn west on 36 Street.
In conjunction with ASL Paving Ltd., the City of Lloydminster has already begun making roadway improvements on 49 Avenue from 36 Street to 38 Street. This portion of the 2022 Street Improvement program is scheduled to conclude in late June, weather permitting. The portion of the roadway will see the replacement of concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk sections, patching of failed areas of the road, and complete asphalt resurfacing.
The 2022 Street Improvement start dates are tentative and will be weather-dependent and barring any unforeseen circumstances. Detour routes and road closures signs will be marked and installed. Construction notices have been distributed to all those who will be directly affected by the work.
Motorists are reminded to allow extra time for travel, slow down when driving in construction zones, and obey all signs, detours, and barriers.
