Since the beginning, local businesses have played a crucial role in the growth and sustainability of our community. As we move forward in dealing with the challenges of COVID-19, many of our local businesses have adapted to serving the public and customers in new ways.
I have heard about many businesses reaching out to customers via Twitter, Facebook and other platforms. Local companies who hadn't in the past are now taking orders online and by phone to meet their clients' needs. The advent of SkipTheDishes has taken food delivery to a whole new level. In the past, there was always pizza delivery. Now, almost any local dish your stomach desires is available by calling your local restaurant.
Local businesses are rising to the challenge and difficulties. Their continued support will help us remain intact as possible. When asked to help find N95 masks for the frontline emergency staff at the hospital, the business community responded with an effort that was astounding and effective, ensuring those working to protect our health are also safe.
As we move through this difficult and challenging time, together, I hope we can support our local businesses. Every dollar spent in Lloydminster will help the recovery efforts and ensure our local businesses will be here to provide employment and goods and services in the years to come.
We all know our local businesses are often owned and operated by our neighbours and friends. The size of the company doesn’t matter, and together we make Lloydminster great place to live and raise a family.
Together we will make it through this. Together we will make a difference!
Mayor Gerald S. Aalbers
