There are many signs of spring showing up after the winter that seemed it would never end. Throughout the winter, litter, dirt and debris accumulate around our community. Through the annual Community Cleanup initiatives, we encourage residents to pitch in with community beautification. Whether it be tidying your own property, picking trash on boulevards or greenspaces, helping clean gutters and excess debris from your neighbourhood, or simply encouraging environmentally friendly habits, we appreciate your efforts!
May 1-7 has been designated as Pitch-In Week in Lloydminster. This will allow the last of the snow to melt and expose all the trash and treasures needing to be picked up. I encourage you to take part in this annual event. A great place to start is in your own yard and neighbourhood. Many areas also have trails, parks or schools that need to be picked up.
If you and your friends, co-workers, or fellow service club members are interested in helping out as a group, please contact the City of Lloydminster Environment Team at 780-874-3700 ext. 2794
Within this activation week, we encourage residents to join in on Household Hazardous Waste Roundup and Pitch-In initiatives.
This year’s Household Hazardous Waste Roundup is on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lloydminster Exhibition. This event allows residents from Lloydminster and the surrounding area to safely dispose of household quantities of hazardous waste. Residents are asked to separate materials and contain leaky items in leak-proof bags or containers.
Following your waste disposal, please join the sponsors and planning committee in a drop-in family-focused free event and charitable BBQ!
