Lloydminster, AB/SK – Lloydminster restaurants and licensed establishments will soon be able to open at 50 per cent capacity, along with gyms and fitness facilities, childcare facilities and places of worship – subject to provincial guidelines still under development.
The size of indoor public and private gatherings will increase to 15 people in Phase 3, while the size of outdoor gatherings will increase to 30.
Phase 3 of the Government of Saskatchewan’s reopen plan is expected to begin Monday, June 8, 2020. The phased reopen plan, as it applies to for both the Alberta and Saskatchewan portions of Lloydminster, will also include personal-service businesses that did not open in Phase 2:
- estheticians;
- tattoo artists;
- make-up applicators;
- electrologists;
- manicurists;
- pedicurists;
- sun tanning parlours;
- facilities in which body piercing, bone grafting or scarification services are provided; and
- other personal service facilities.
Additional guidelines or restrictions may apply to personal-service businesses governed by a provincial body or association.
All workplaces must be prepared to operate safely for customers and their employees and take the proper preventative measures. Opening is at the discretion of the workplace, based on risk assessment and the ability to operate safely, protecting staff and customers.
A timeline for Phase 4, which includes indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and increasing public and private gatherings to 30 people, has not yet been announced.
Guidelines for the safe reopening of places of worship will be developed in consultation with faith leaders. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
Residents must continue to follow necessary personal protective measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, among other hygiene practices.
Residents and business owners are reminded the City of Lloydminster is still under a State of Local Emergency. All previously implemented restrictions and social distancing measures remain in effect for both the City of Lloydminster in its entirety. Per the Lloydminster Charter, the City of Lloydminster is compelled to abide by orders issued under the Saskatchewan Health Act.
