COVID-19 update

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Government of Saskatchewan announced province-wide mandatory masking and other heightened pandemic precautionary measures, effective Monday, November 16, 2020.

Announced on Friday, November 13, 2020, the updated guidelines apply to the City of Lloydminster in its entirety, along with communities of over 5,000 residents across the province of Saskatchewan.

The newly implemented measures will be in effect until December 14, 2020, when the provincial government will re-evaluate the mitigation measures.

Mandatory masking in public places

  • Masks are required in all indoor public places. Examples of indoor spaces are:
    • Places for sports and recreational activities, such as a gym, arena, pool, gymnastic facility, dance facility or indoor court or field facility, except while participating in physical exertion
    • Municipal buildings offering public services
    • Common areas of office buildings, such as lobbies, elevators and hallways
    • For an evolving list of what constitutes an indoor public space, visit Saskatchewan.ca.
  • Masks are not required for:
    • children under the age of two;
    • anyone unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance; or
    • persons actively engaged in physical exercise.

Alcohol service curfew for licensed establishments

  • All restaurants, bars, pubs and other licensed facilities must stop serving liquor at 10 p.m. MST. Private events and outdoor serving spaces are not exempt.

Updated fitness guidelines

  • Group fitness activities (example: spin, class circuit training, aquacise) are limited to a maximum of eight participants
  • Group aerobic activities are permitted only if participants can be three metres apart throughout the duration of the activity, as required by the current Re-Open Saskatchewan guideline.
  • Individual aerobic activities (example: treadmill, stationary bike, lane swimming) are permitted if all required equipment is properly distanced according to the Re-Open Saskatchewan guidelines.

While transmission within school settings has been limited, the Government of Saskatchewan recommends all school divisions to move to Level 3 of their respective back-to-school plans for high schools with 600 students or more.

Residents are reminded indoor private gatherings that occur in private residences shall not exceed 10 people, including those who ordinarily reside in the private dwelling. Also, indoor public gatherings over 30 people and outdoor private and public gatherings over 30 people are prohibited except in the following circumstances where two metre distancing between people can be maintained.

Residents must continue to follow necessary personal protective measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, among other hygiene practices.

The City of Lloydminster remains under a State of Local Emergency. All previously implemented restrictions and social distancing measures remain in effect for the City of Lloydminster in its entirety. Per the Lloydminster Charter, the City of Lloydminster is compelled to abide by orders issued under the Saskatchewan Health Act.
