Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster continues to reopen its outdoor amenities as the third phase of the Re-open Saskatchewan plan is set to begin Monday, June 8, 2020.
Leading up to the third instalment of the province’s phased reopen plan, the city’s municipal campground, Weaver Park Campground, began welcoming patrons on Monday, June 1, 2020, while limiting its bookings to 50 per cent and adhering to additional provincial guidelines.
“The City has taken steps toward the gradual restoration of outdoor recreation services where possible, including the partial reopening of our municipal golf course in late May, followed by the campground on June 1,” said Jordan Newton, Manager of Emergency Measures and Operations.
Providing in-person and online services, the golf course at the Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre reopened as part of the first phase on May 15, 2020. The opening of the driving range and Pro Shop followed on May 22, 2020.
Additional outdoor amenities include the municipal tennis courts and the disc golf in Bud Miller All Seasons Park, which will open to the public soon - subject to provincial guidelines still under development.
Suspended public access continues at the remaining municipal facilities, including Servus Sports Centre and its fitness centre. Membership holders will receive an extension once the fitness centre reopens to the public.
“The Re-open Saskatchewan plan serves as a guiding document. Each community must assess its own set of unique risks and challenges in establishing timelines, as the City of Lloydminster has done and continues to do,” said Newton.
When Phase 3 of the phased reopen plan begins, Lloydminster restaurants and licensed establishments will be able to open at 50 per cent capacity, along with gyms and fitness facilities, childcare facilities and places of worship. This phase of the reopening plan, as it applies to both the Alberta and Saskatchewan portions of Lloydminster, also includes personal-service businesses that did not open in Phase 2.
The size of indoor public and private gatherings will increase to 15 people in Phase 3, while outdoor gatherings will increase to 30.
All businesses reopening are subject to provincial guidelines.
A timeline for Phase 4, which includes indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and increasing public and private gatherings to 30 people, has not yet been announced.
