Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Government of Saskatchewan announced additional information regarding the use of non-medical face mask must be worn, along with other COVID-19 guidelines, effective Friday, November 27, 2020.
The following public health measures are in addition to the current measures and will remain in effect until December 17, 2020, when the provincial government will re-evaluate the mitigation measures.
“We’re pleased that Wednesday’s COVID-19 update from Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has allowed for our local schools and businesses to continue operating as we respond to an escalating number of positive cases,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “Since the onset of the pandemic, the City of Lloydminster has followed the direction of the Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. I want to remind residents of the guidelines imposed by the Saskatchewan government apply to the corporate limits of Lloydminster.”
Mandatory Masking Expanded
Mandatory, non-medical mask use will be required during all indoor fitness activities, except for aquatic activities.
Mandatory, non-medical masking will be extended to:
- All students, employees and visitors in all schools and daycares except where exempt as outlined by the Saskatchewan government;
- All employees and visitors in all common areas in businesses and workplaces, even in those areas which the public does not have access; and
- All residents, employees and visitors in all common areas in provincial and municipal correctional facilities.

Restaurants and Licensed Establishments
All restaurants and licensed establishments (bars, taverns, nightclubs) are limited to seat four at a single table. Restaurants and licensed establishments must maintain guest/reservation information on all patrons.
The curfew on liquor service remains in effect – stop serving liquor at 10 p.m. and must close at 11 p.m. Additional guidelines are available at Saskatchewan.ca.
Performance and Gaming Venues
Capacity will be restricted to 30 people at all casinos, bingo halls, arenas, live theatres, movie theatres, performing arts venues and any other facility currently supporting a 150-person capacity.
Indoor Public Event Gatherings
Indoor public banquets, conferences, wedding and funeral receptions in public venues will be limited to 30 people. Food or beverages may not be present or served.
The maximum allowable gathering size for private gatherings in the home setting remains five. This includes buildings located on private property. If your immediate family is greater than five, additional visitors are not allowed.
Gatherings of any size beyond your immediate household are strongly discouraged.
Caregivers and tradespersons are permitted within the home; however, they must maintain two-metre distancing and be masked during the service.
Sports, Fitness and Dance
- All team/group sports, activities, games, competitions, recitals, practices, etc., are suspended, including amateur and recreational leagues for all age groups.
- Athletes and dancers 18 years of age and under may continue practicing, conditioning and skills training in groups of eight or fewer while abiding by the guidelines outlined at Saskatchewan.ca.
- Coaches /trainers are not included in the training group numbers as long as they are masked and maintain a minimum physical distance of three metres.
Places of Worship
All worship places must reduce capacity to 30 people, including wedding, funeral, and baptismal services. No food or drink may be present or served.
Residents must continue to follow necessary personal protective measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, among other hygiene practices. More information is available at Lloydminster.ca/COVID-19.
