Lloydminster, AB/SK – Recent letter and electronically mailed Lloydminster utility bills contained incorrect information regarding due dates and penalties.
The invoice dated Wednesday, April 8, 2020, contains the line, Subject to Late Penalty Fee: April 26, 2020. Residential and non-residential property owners are reminded that late penalty fees will not be applied to invoices dated after April 1, 2020.
Residents and businesses in a position to continue paying their utility bills, as usual, are encouraged to do so.
BACKGROUND
City Council approved the Payment Relief Option Plan during the April 6 regular Council meeting. The plan allows residential and commercial Lloydminster utility customers to defer all outstanding balances until September 30, 2020. Invoices will continue to be issued monthly, and any invoice issued before April 1, 2020, is not available for deferment.
During this time, there will be no water disconnections for nonpayment; however, where applicable, outstanding balances will be transferred to property taxes after 180 days.
