Lloydminster, AB/SK – Mother Nature has co-operated over the past couple of weeks, allowing for significant progress on the rehabilitation of Highway 16 (44 Street).
The following have been completed over the past couple of weeks:
- Utility/Streetlight relocates for phases I and II
- Phase I municipal underground servicing work
- Phase I concrete median curb and gutter between 62 Avenue and 75 Avenue
- Westside of 62 Avenue (College Drive) southbound right turn bay curb and gutter
- Eastside of 62 Avenue (College Drive) southbound median curb and gutter
- Phase I cement stabilization of subgrade and granular base course placement within the intersection and approach legs of 62 Avenue (College Drive), and Highway 16 (44 Street) is approximately 50 per cent complete.
Next Steps
The final cement stabilization of the intersection, placement of the intersection granular base course, and then the placement of the concrete pad. The intent will be to ensure the intersection and Phase I intersection approach legs are prepared for the concrete. While the concrete intersection is being poured, crews will proceed west from the intersection.
Phase I is still on schedule to be completed around August 17, weather permitting. The concrete pad within the intersection is scheduled to start July 15; however, if favourable weather continues, the pouring of the concrete pad may start one week early.
The traffic accommodation strategy continues to be reviewed and refined where needed. Anyone who finds gaps in the traffic accommodations, please get in touch with the City of Lloydminster’s Engineering department.
Motorists are reminded to allow extra time for travel, slow down when driving in construction zones, and obey all signs, detours, and barriers.
