Lloydminster, Alta. — During the week of June 8, 2020, Lloydminster RCMP was alerted to several suspicious occurrences involving women being followed by a male in public areas, including a sexual assault.
On June 8, 2020, police received a report of a male believed to be following a female in the area of Bud Miller Park. The male was not located at the time.
On June 10, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police received a call from a female indicating that she had been followed by a suspicious male in the area of 27 Street and 57 Avenue. The male confronted the female and showed her a pornographic image on his phone before obtaining assistance from someone nearby.
At approximately 8 p.m., the same day, police received a call from a female who had been sexually assaulted by a male while walking in the area of 39 Street and 55 Avenue. The suspect made sexual comments to the female and touched her without her consent before she fled from the area.
As a result of these investigations, Lloydminster RCMP arrested and charged Emerie Penner, 34, of Lloydminster with:
- Sexual assault
- Assault
- Obtaining sexual services for consideration
- Corrupting morals
- Disturbing the Peace
Penner was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Lloydminster on July 28, 2020.
