UPDATE: Grass fire forces temporary closure of Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre

The Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre and the Lloydminster Cemetery are now reopened.

The Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre is temporarily closed due to a grass fire that has reached a treed area along the southern boundary of the golf course.

The Lloydminster Fire Department responded to the call at 9:39 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Immediate firefighting efforts have slowed the spread of the fire, which was largely contained as of 10:55 a.m.

As a precaution, golf course operations have been suspended and all personnel evacuated. The Lloydminster Cemetery has also been temporarily closed. No structures within the LGCC are currently at risk, nor is there significant threat to adjacent properties.

Legacy Protective Services and the Britannia Fire Department are on scene providing mutual aid support.
