A Moment with the Mayor: Our Resources
We are truly blessed by the resources around us. With strong ties to agriculture, grains and oil seed production or farmers who raise animals, we are blessed with very productive land. The land provides farmers and ranchers with the ability to produce the food we eat and helps to feed the world we live in. The bountiful natural resource reserves of oil and gas provide us with the essential ingredients for many aspects of the lives we lead. The phones attached to our hands most of the day are made from poly carbons, a byproduct of our resources. We will stay warm this winter as well, thanks to our oil and gas industry.
As we move into the fall season, many fruits of labour start to appear. Trees produce fruit, fields produce yields, gardens continue to be harvested to fill pantries and freezers. The great qualityland here around Lloydminster produces abundant harvests. A standing joke with many gardeners is to make sure that you don’tleave your car unlocked or you could end up with a pile of zucchini, tomatoes, or apples on your back seat.
We are blessed with people as a resource as well. We have farm laborers and those who work in the oil and gas industry. There are positions and opportunities all over. Our volunteers are some of the best in the country and likely in the whole world. This summer through the generosity of the 1000 volunteers we hosted the Saskatchewan Summer Games. This would have never been possible without the dedicated and willing volunteers who together made the Games an experience of a lifetime. We live in a community known for its generosity and we often watch people here rally around an individual in need, providing the time talent and treasure to put on massive fundraising activities that provide much needed funding to support our community groups and organizations.
Our resources will hopefully continue to grow. We look forward to more business and industry, more community minded individuals and families who want to help be a part of the solution and fabric of our city. Thank you all for sharing the resources you have on so many fronts in and around our community.
