Lloydminster, AB/SK – Property tax notices for all taxable properties in Lloydminster are being issued today, Friday, June 5, 2026.

Property owners registered for electronic notices will receive their taxation notice by the end of the day on June 5, 2026. All other owners will receive a paper copy through Canada Post after June 9, 2026.

Property owners who have not received their tax notice by Thursday, July 2, 2026, are encouraged to contact the City of Lloydminster's Assessment & Taxation department at 780-875-6184 Ext. 2147 or by email at taxes@lloydminster.ca to request a copy.

2026 Property Taxes Notification and Payment Options

Property owners can opt in to receive future assessment and taxation notices electronically. This paperless option provides convenient access to assessment and taxation documents by email while reducing printed materials and mailing requirements.

Payments can be made by the following methods:

  • City Hall (cash, debit or cheque),
  • a financial institution or credit union,
  • online banking, or
  • credit card using PaySimply – a Canadian third-party payment provider.

Property owners who have paid their 2026 taxes may also register for pre-authorized debit payments to begin planning ahead for their 2027 property taxes.

Property taxes are due upon mailing. Under the Penalty Bylaw, when a payment deadline falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the last payment date before penalties are applied is extended to the next business day. For 2026, the last day to pay without penalty is Monday, July 27, 2026.

How are property taxes determined?

Property taxes are calculated and billed annually using the property’s assessed value and the 2026 property tax mill rate approved by City Council on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Background

Under sections 302 and 319 of The Lloydminster Charter, Council is required to pass a property tax bylaw each year to establish municipal mill rates. These rates are determined based on the revenue requirements identified through the budget process, requisitions received from school divisions and the assessment roll prepared by the City Assessor.

Approval of the bylaw allows the City to begin the annual tax levy process and ensures tax notices are delivered to property owners in a timely manner.
