A Moment with the Mayor: Sun, Wind, and Road Construction
As we begin to enjoy the green grass, the leaves on the trees, the warm sun, and the cool breeze, the sound of hammers, saws, and lawn mowers fills the air throughout our neighbourhoods. Construction season is upon us. It’s often said we have two seasons in the prairies: winter and construction season.
As the snow melted, potholes of various sizes seemed to appear overnight. The City’s patching crews are already out, working across the city to address these potholes and the general wear and tear on our streets, which have taken a considerable toll this year.
I’m pleased to inform you that we are committed to a full construction schedule, which includes water and sewer line replacements, stormwater management, and road repairs and reconstruction. A list of proposed projects for this construction season is available at Lloydminster.ca/SIP.
Our City team is planning and preparing to address any challenges that may arise, much like you. While many of us still have snow tires on our vehicles, our crews are ready to face the elements. Pothole repairs have already begun, whenever the weather cooperates.
How Can You Help with Pothole Repair?
You can assist by using Report a Concern to report specific potholes, visit Lloydminster.ca/ReportaConcern. If you don’t have internet access, please contact the City at 780-874-3700 to report a pothole.
We take the safety of our residents, visitors, and employees very seriously. I encourage all motorists to slow down and obey traffic signage and construction zone signs as we work to repair, replace, and resurface the roads. Let’s do our part to keep Lloydminster’s roads safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and workers.
Lloydminster is a great place to live. Let’s keep an eye out for one another.
Mayor Gerald S. Aalbers
