City invites residents to celebrate National Seniors Day with Lunch & Learn

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster invites local seniors to connect, learn, and celebrate National Seniors Day at a free Lunch & Learn on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Legacy Centre.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the event will feature Thriving as We Age, a presentation by keynote speaker Shelley Jackson-Berry. The positive, evidence-based session will explore practical ways to support mental and physical well-being and thrive through the aging process. 

Participants will learn simple, everyday strategies to support brain health, strengthen resilience, and stay socially connected. The session will also explore the role optimism and a sense of purpose can play in supporting overall well-being and quality of life. 

Keynote speaker 

Shelley Jackson-Berry has spent 38 years working with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) in central Alberta, supporting the social well-being of individuals, families, and rural communities. Throughout her career, she led initiatives focused on building community resilience and strengthening protective factors. 

Now a speaker and advocate, Jackson-Berry draws on decades of experience to share practical strategies that encourage meaningful connection, resilience, and personal growth.
