City of Lloydminster’s Social Programs and Services department shares Annual Report

Lloydminster, AB/SK— The City of Lloydminster is sharing the 2024 Annual Report for the Social Programs and Services department. This report offers a detailed overview of the department’s structure, functions, program descriptions, workshop listings, attendee numbers, and grant allocations. In addition to outlining key programs, the report emphasizes transparency and highlights these initiatives' significant impact on the community.

Key Highlights from the 2024 Report:

  • Cenovus Energy Block Party Trailer: This program helps build connections between neighbours through food and activities. In 2024, 23 Neighbourhood Block Party requests were processed, with 16 using the trailer and seven opting for kits. These events involved about 1,340 participants.
  • Level Up Series: Workshops aimed at providing youth with life skills to help them transition into adulthood.
  • Seniors Taxi Program: In 2024, the City subsidized $244,441 to assist seniors with transportation, offering $170,640 in taxi vouchers. 
  • Grant Programs: Over $500,000 was distributed to non-profit organizations to support community initiatives. The department manages three grant programs: the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Grants, the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program, and the Safe and Healthy Communities Grant. The Social Programs and Services team administers these grants, with recommendations from the Community Services Advisory Committee, which includes seven community volunteers and one city councillor.

The report highlights the ongoing work of the Social Programs and Services team to support the community through well-organized programs and effective use of resources.
