Lloydminster Fire Department and Lakeland College strengthen partnership with equipment exchange

Lloydminster, AB/SK - The Lloydminster Fire Department and Lakeland College’s Emergency Training Centre (ETC) have announced a significant step in their ongoing partnership. The department has given vehicle extrication equipment to the ETC in exchange for training credits at the facility, signifying the department’s continued collaboration in preparing the next generation of emergency responders.

“The Lloydminster Fire Department’s equipment upgrade presents an opportunity to support the training of future emergency services personnel,” says  Fire Chief Aaron Buckingham, Lloydminster Fire Department. “It's crucial for students to familiarize themselves with various equipment types, as they may encounter diverse scenarios in their careers, especially in smaller communities where resources may be limited."

The equipment remains invaluable for training purposes and will benefit students at Lakeland College.

"Partnering with our communities is an important part of what makes our Emergency Training Centre one of the best in the country," Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland College, says. "We are all invested in the future of emergency response and looking for ways to collaborate in ensuring our graduates have access to a variety of equipment, graduating prepared to make a difference wherever their careers take them. This exchange is a testament to our shared commitment to community safety and readiness."
