Lloydminster Fire Rescue invites community to Fire Prevention Week Open House

Lloydminster, AB/SK – Lloydminster Fire Rescue is inviting residents to charge into fire safety during its Fire Prevention Week Open House on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #2, 2706 59 Avenue.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week focuses on battery and charging safety, highlighting simple steps residents can take to safely charge, use, and store the devices and batteries they rely on every day.

The free, family-friendly open house gives residents an opportunity to meet local firefighters, explore the fire station and equipment, and learn more about fire prevention through interactive activities and demonstrations.

Activities will include:

• Bouncy castles
• Fire hose target shooting
• Fire extinguisher practice
• Fire truck and station tours
• A visit from Sparky the Fire Dog.

Residents can also learn how to recognize battery warning signs, choose appropriate charging equipment, and reduce fire risks when charging devices at home.

“Fire Prevention Week is a great chance to welcome residents into the fire station, have some fun, and talk about simple ways we can all help prevent fires,” says Assistant Fire Chief Chad Penner. “We use battery-powered devices every day, often without giving them much thought. This year’s focus is a good reminder that a few simple charging habits can make a real difference in keeping our homes and families safe.”

The open house is free to attend, and no registration is required.
