Saskatchewan Summer Games Legacy Fund awards $15,000 to Cenovus Energy Hub

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster is pleased to announce that Cenovus Energy Hub has received $15,000 from the Saskatchewan Summer Games Legacy Fund to support its Fill The Seats campaign. 

This contribution is part of the more than $150,000 revenue surplus generated by the sold-out 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games. The Legacy Fund has awarded 19 community organizations with funds to enhance sport, culture, and recreation initiatives throughout Lloydminster and the surrounding Saskatchewan Rural Region. 

"We are thrilled to support the Cenovus Energy Hub's Fill the Seats campaign with a $15,000 contribution from the Summer Games Legacy Fund Program," said Co-Chairs Wendy Plandowski and Aaron Rawlake. "This funding, made possible through the success of the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games, represents more than just dollars - it's an investment in a project that will leave a lasting legacy for our community and region. We congratulate the City of Lloydminster and the dedicated volunteers behind this initiative for their vision and commitment to strengthening sport, recreation and culture in our community."

About Cenovus Energy Hub 

More than a hockey arena, more than a concert venue — Cenovus Energy Hub is an entertainment facility, the largest of its kind in the region. This inclusive and accessible space will unite people from Lloydminster and beyond to create community through extraordinary experiences, celebration and fun. The fit-for-purpose facility has been designed with great care, and includes: 

  • a primary arena with seating for 2,500, expandable up to 4,500 for concerts and events with floor seating. 
  • a second, NHL-sized indoor ice surface with seating for up to 500. 
  • a third outdoor ice surface adjacent to the building, which functions as a basketball court in the summer.
