A Moment with the Mayor: Highlights of Being Mayor

As Mayor of Lloydminster, I have the honour of attending meetings, events, and functions representing the City and connecting with residents. It is always a pleasure to welcome guests visiting from outside the community, province, and country. Opportunities to meet with provincial and federal leaders, including Premiers, cabinet ministers, and the Prime Minister, are greatly appreciated and play an important role in promoting Lloydminster and advancing key priorities.

The most rewarding part of this role is the opportunity to connect with residents, businesses, and visitors. Attending grand openings, ribbon cuttings, and milestone celebrations provides a chance to recognize the people and businesses that contribute to a strong and vibrant community. Celebrating new ventures, expansions, and achievements helps build momentum and pride across Lloydminster.

Recognizing personal milestones is equally meaningful. Celebrations such as milestone birthdays and wedding anniversaries offer an opportunity to connect with residents and honour their contributions to the community. These moments reflect the strength, history, and spirit of Lloydminster.

City policy allows the Mayor or designate to provide letters of congratulations for notable achievements, including sports and public service accomplishments, wedding anniversaries of 25 years or more, and birthdays for residents aged 65 and older. Requests can be submitted to mayor@lloydminster.ca. Please include the full names of those being recognized and relevant details.

It is an honour and privilege to serve as Mayor and to represent the City of Lloydminster.

Until next week, have a great one!

Mayor Gerald S. Aalbers
City of Lloydminster
