A Moment with the Mayor: Youth in Action

As signs of spring appear, many of us are inspired by the potential of the upcoming season. While the weather remains unpredictable, the opportunities ahead are abundant.

My calendar is filling up with invites from various community groups and organizations hosting upcoming events. The future of our city is often on my mind, particularly the youth. They are filled with energy and ambition, motivating them to achieve and succeed. These young leaders are not only the promise of our future but will become the leaders of tomorrow.

Two notable youth events in our city are coming up. The first is the “Pecha Kucha” event at 7 p.m. on May 15 at the Vic Juba Theatre. This event, centred on the theme of "Synergy," promises to showcase the talents of our city's best. Past presentations have raised my expectations for this event, and I am eager to attend and experience the visual and spoken art forms.

Another exciting event is the annual 4-H EXPO at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds. 4-H continues to evolve, with beef clubs still strong and new projects being added. Welding, computers, and pets are just a few of the projects on display. The 4-H program has deep roots in our community and the surrounding area. Mark your calendars for May 31 to June 2 and visit the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds to witness the incredible effort and dedication behind each project.

Additionally, the Lloydminster and District Fish & Game Association is hosting a Youth Outdoor Activity Day on June 21 and 22 for youth aged 10-13. For more details, visit their website.

I encourage you to attend these events and support our youth as they showcase their talents and hard work.
