City-wide residential snow removal begins January 12, 2026
Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster will begin a city-wide residential snow removal campaign on Monday, January 12, 2026. Crews section their work using the curbside collection zoning map, and will start in the orange and pink zones then proceed to green, blue, and yellow zones.
Crews typically work in two zones at a time to ensure snow removal is completed efficiently. A dedicated cul-de-sac cleaning crew will begin in the pink zone and move to other areas as needed.
A city-wide residential snow removal generally takes up to four weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions. In the event of significant snowfall during this period, resources may temporarily shift to priority routes before resuming residential clearing. For updates and more information, visit Lloydminster.ca/Roads.
Resident and Driver Cooperation
Residents are required to remove vehicles, garbage carts, and any other street obstructions before snow removal begins in their area. Signage will be posted 24-48 hours in advance to provide notice. Snow will be plowed into windrows at the centre of the street and cleared by equipment within 24 hours. Residents are reminded not to drive or climb over or through the windrows. The City of Lloydminster is not responsible for any damages caused by doing so.
For safety, drivers must maintain a distance of at least eight metres from snow removal equipment, and parents should ensure children stay away from snow piles and machinery. During residential snow removal, snow is cleared to the centre of the street, then loaded into trucks and hauled to the City’s snow storage lot. After the snow is cleared, an ice ridge may remain between the road and driveways, and it is the responsibility of property owners or tenants to remove it.
As outlined in the Community Standards Bylaw, property owners and tenants are also responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property within 72 hours of a snowfall. Snow and ice must not be placed onto streets during clearing. Additionally, a one-metre (three-foot) radius around fire hydrants must remain clear of snow and ice. Creating a pathway to the nearest sidewalk or roadway is recommended to improve accessibility and safety.
Parking Restrictions
Parking bans are in effect during city-wide residential snow removal in areas where crews are actively working, as outlined in the City of Lloydminster’s Winter Maintenance Policy (No. 320-01). Signage will be placed along affected roadways 24 to 48 hours in advance to provide notice.
The parking ban is in place Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. Vehicles left in restricted areas during snow removal will be towed at the owner’s expense.
These measures help ensure crews can work safely and efficiently to keep roads clear and accessible for everyone.
Curbside Collection
Curbside collection schedules will not be affected by snow removal. Carts should be placed on the street after 7 p.m. the night before collection day and removed from the street by 7 a.m. the day following collection day. For more information on curbside collection, visit Lloydminster.ca/Curbside.
