Good deeds deserve a ticket: Positive Ticketing Program launches in Lloydminster

Lloydminster, AB/SK — Residents may soon find themselves receiving a ticket for all the right reasons.

The City of Lloydminster’s Municipal Enforcement Department, in partnership with the Lloydminster Fire Department and RCMP, has launched the Positive Ticketing Program to recognize and celebrate residents who make safe, kind, and community-minded choices.

Through the program, residents may be rewarded for positive actions such as helping a neighbour, using crosswalks properly, wearing safety gear, or showing acts of kindness. Each Positive Ticket includes a small reward from one of Lloydminster’s participating local businesses.

“Positive Ticketing is about shining a spotlight on the good happening every day in our community,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “By recognizing and celebrating positive choices, we’re not only encouraging safe and respectful behaviours, but also building stronger connections between residents and our enforcement and emergency services.”

The Positive Ticketing Program is designed to break down barriers between community members, particularly youth, and those in uniform by creating positive interactions based on recognition rather than enforcement.
