LMA invites community to share personal collections in upcoming museum exhibit

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Lloydminster Museum + Archives is inviting residents to take part in Lloyd Collects!, a new community-centred exhibition exploring the psychology and history of collecting and the role it has played in shaping modern museums.

Scheduled to run from July 7 to September 13,  the exhibition will feature selections from the Museum + Archives’ collections alongside personal collections submitted by local residents. The exhibit will examine why people collect, how collecting began, and the stories behind treasured items.

Submissions are currently open, and residents are encouraged to submit personal collections of any size. Items that are meaningful, nostalgic, unique, or unexpected, are especially welcome. Selected participants will have their collections displayed as part of the exhibition and will have the opportunity to share their stories with the community.

Submissions can be made online at Lloydminster.ca/LloydCollects. Interested participants are asked to provide photos and a short description of their collection. Museum staff will follow up with selected contributors.

The deadline to submit a collection is March 20, 2026.

Collections may be displayed in whole or in part. All objects must be in good, clean condition, family-friendly, culturally appropriate, and suitable for public display for up to two months.
