Municipal Police Committee hosts first public open house November 6

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster’s newly formed Municipal Police Committee is inviting residents to attend its first public open house on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Legacy Centre (5101 46 Street).

The event will include a formal presentation at 6:15 p.m. from RCMP Inspector Nicholl on the current policing priorities in Lloydminster, followed by an opportunity to meet and discuss policing concerns with the committee.

Appointed by City Council on May 5, 2025, the Municipal Police Committee includes six members of the public and one Council representative. The establishment of the committee is a requirement under the Alberta Police Act, ensuring that public concerns and interests are represented in decisions related to the City’s policing contract with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), including annual policing priorities, staffing levels, and community policing strategies.

Hosted by the Municipal Police Committee, the open house will give residents an opportunity to learn more abut the committee’s role and to share feedback on local policing initiatives. Input gathered during the event will help shape the 2026 RCMP policing priorities for Lloydminster.

For those unable to attend, a short online questionnaire is available at Lloydminster.ca/MPC from October 29 to November 13, 2025.

The City encourages all residents to participate and help guide the future of policing in their community.
