Parking bans in effect on Priority 1 and 2 routes
Lloydminster, AB/SK – Parking bans are in effect on Priority 1 and Priority 2 routes as crews carry out winter maintenance activities under the City of Lloydminster’s Winter Maintenance Policy (No. 320-01). These restrictions support safe and efficient operations when crews are working in active maintenance zones.
Winter Maintenance parking restriction signs have been installed throughout the city to help residents identify affected areas. The following hours apply Monday to Friday, excluding holidays:
- Priority 1 routes: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Priority 2 routes: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It generally takes two days to complete Priority 1 areas and an additional three to four days to complete Priority 2 areas. Blowing snow, poor visibility, and continuing snowfall can impact timelines as roads may require additional maintenance. Residents can begin parking on the road again once the roadway has been plowed. Vehicles left in restricted areas during active maintenance periods may be towed at the owner’s expense. These measures help crews keep high-priority routes clear and maintain safe travel for all road users.
For safety, drivers must maintain a distance of at least eight metres from operating equipment, and parents are reminded to keep children away from snow piles and machinery. After work is completed, snow may remain between the roadway and driveways; it is the responsibility of property owners or tenants to remove it.
As outlined in the Community Standards Bylaw, property owners and tenants must clear ice and snow from sidewalks adjacent to their property within 72 hours of a snowfall. Snow and ice must not be placed onto streets during clearing. A one-metre radius around fire hydrants must also remain clear, and creating a pathway from the hydrant to the nearest sidewalk or roadway is recommended to support accessibility and emergency response.
