Russ Robertson Arena upgrades complete
Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Russ Robertson Arena has reopened following the completion of the facility’s upgrade project.
The project improves the user experience and supports the long-term operation of the facility. The upgrades were planned in consultation with facility users to enhance safety, function, and the day-to-day use of the arena.
A full concrete pad replacement was completed to support consistent ice quality throughout the season. A new board, glass, and netting system has also been installed to improve safety and visibility for players, officials, and spectators.
New seating has been added for spectators, with seats relocated from the Centennial Civic Centre to provide a more accessible and practical viewing area for families and fans.
To support clearer movement on the ice and more efficient game operations, the home and away benches have been moved to the south side of the facility. The officials’ box is now on the north side, just outside the lobby windows, improving access and communication during games and practices.
The completed project cost was approximately $1.94 million, which includes additional structural work such as tie beam replacement and remediation beneath the previous slab.
