Temporary windrows in place to support residential snow removal progress
Lloydminster, AB/SK – With recent mild temperatures, crews are making steady progress scraping and cleaning residential roads. Conditions are allowing roads to be cleared quickly, at times faster than snow can be loaded and hauled from neighbourhoods.
To keep work moving efficiently while weather conditions allow, crews will temporarily leave snow in windrows in the centre of some residential roadways. These windrows may remain in place for 3 to 4 days before being collected and hauled away.
This will allow crews to continue scraping throughout the day on Friday, January 16, while favourable conditions remain. Hauling crews will continue on Monday, January 19, working to remove windrows from residential areas.
Residents are reminded:
- Do not drive over windrows, even if they appear small.
- If access is blocked, follow correct direction of travel and proceed to the next block to turn around.
- A parking ban remains in effect wherever windrows are left on the roadway.
The City appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews continue work to complete residential snow removal during favourable weather.
