Community Peace Officers

The City of Lloydminster employs Community Peace Officers to enhance the work of police officers, performing varied roles that assist in maintaining the peace. Peace officers are authorized under the Peace Officer Act (AB), which enables the City of Lloydminster to employ appointed peace officers for specific job functions.

Community Peace Officers perform a range of duties at the community level. Their duties vary in nature and scope depending on the unique needs and priorities of the communities they serve. These can include working through the community to provide a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors, traffic enforcement through the municipality, enforcement of other provincial statutes, or other administrative roles.

Bylaw Officers

Bylaw Officers in the City of Lloydminster are responsible for enforcing municipal bylaws and policies, ensuring the community remains safe, orderly, and enjoyable for all. They commonly address issues such as parking, property standards, noise complaints, and animals at large.

The City of Lloydminster has the authority to employ and appoint Bylaw Officers through the Lloydminster Charter. RCMP Officers and Community Peace Officers are also recognized as Bylaw Enforcement Officers and permitted to enforce municipal laws.
