Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster is recognizing Emergency Preparedness Week from May 3 to 9, 2026, with a series of daily resources, activities, and presentations to help residents better prepare for emergencies at home and in the community.

Throughout the week, the City will share tips and resources on the municipal Facebook and Instagram
channels, focusing on key aspects of household emergency preparedness and regional coordination.

Residents are also invited to take part in a colouring contest for youth aged four to ten. Contest sheets are available at City Hall (4420 50 Ave), the Lloydminster Public Library (5211 44 Street Unit 160), Servus Sports Centre (5202 12 Street), and the Lloydminster Museum + Archives (4207 44 Street), or can be downloaded online Lloydminster.ca/Preparedness. Submissions will be accepted until May 31, 2026.

A public Lunch and Learn presentation will be held at the Lloydminster Public Library on May 20 from 12 to 1 p.m. The session will focus on practical steps residents can take to be better prepared for emergencies. Lunch will be provided.

The week will also feature the Regional Emergency Management Collective (REMC), a partnership of 10 municipalities across Alberta and Saskatchewan focused on strengthening emergency management planning, training, and response across the region. Formed in 2024, the collective supports coordinated efforts, public education, and shared resources to build resilience in each participating community.
